Loungewear that works for a doorstep delivery
Comfortable clothes can handle a brief encounter without becoming an outfit for the whole working day.

Decide what the clothes need to do
Answering the door asks very little of an outfit: adequate coverage, secure waistbands and enough freedom to move without holding something in place. It does not require a dressed-up version of your office wardrobe. Start with what you already find comfortable at home, then identify the particular detail that makes you hesitate before opening the door. The solution is often a single change rather than a completely separate set of clothes.
A T-shirt with a neckline that stays where you expect and lounge trousers with a working drawstring may be sufficient. If a top becomes transparent in bright daylight, examine it near a window rather than under a dim bedroom lamp. The question is whether you feel appropriately covered, not whether a stranger would approve of the colour combination.
Make the small adjustments count
Choose a trouser hem that does not drag when you are wearing your usual indoor footwear. Excess length can look deliberately relaxed in a photograph but become inconvenient while carrying a parcel. If the waistband only remains secure when rolled several times, another rise or length is probably a more useful choice. Softness and a manageable shape are compatible; neither requires the trousers to be tight.
Keep an easy layer nearby if you prefer more coverage. An open cardigan or overshirt can go over a simple top without demanding a full change. Choose something you actually like wearing indoors, so it does not become a ceremonial jacket used for ten seconds at the door. A soft layer in a different tone also separates the upper and lower halves when matching lounge sets feel too uniform.
Pockets can be convenient for keys, but stuffing both sides with heavy objects pulls soft trousers out of shape. Move a phone or large keyring to a suitable surface when you return. The garment will sit more naturally, and you will not need to choose an unnecessarily heavy fabric just to support items that rarely need to stay in your pockets at home.
Keep the distinction flexible
There is no obligation to turn these clothes into an outfit for errands. A doorstep interaction and a longer trip outside have different requirements. If you regularly combine both, have outdoor shoes and a weather-appropriate layer ready, then decide whether the trousers themselves still make sense. The useful standard is a small, comfortable home wardrobe that supports your real routine, rather than a permanently presentable costume worn in anticipation of visitors.
